RECESS: SCHOOL�S OUT

Disney�s "Recess: School�s Out" is a children�s animated film focusing on the fun of having a three month summer recess. The characters are from" Disney�s Recess" which is part of the Disney Saturday morning line-up on ABC television. . Voices for the characters will be familiar and include Dabney Coleman, Robert Goulet, Melissa Joan Hart (television�s "Sabrina"), Peter MacNicol and James Woods (who did the voice of Lord of the Underworld in "Hercules.")

The story revolves around the kids of Third Street School and in particular, T. J. Detweiler (Andy Lawrence.) T.J. longs for summer vacation and going to camp with his friends. However, this year, T.J. ends up not going to camp at all. Hanging around the schoolyard, T.J. sees a mysterious green light in the supposedly vacant building. He tries to tell adults, but they think he is just another imaginative kid, so T.J. visits the Principal, Mr. Prickly (Coleman), who goes to the school at night and promptly vanishes. When T.J.�s friends come back from camp, he gets them to help find out what is going on in the school and what they discover is strange, indeed. One night, the school roof opens and a laser is fired into the sky. What to do? Is it space aliens or someone with mischief in mind?

"Recess: School�s Out" explores the premise of what actually goes on in a deserted school building during summer vacation. Something nefarious is definitely afoot here. It is difficult to build an almost 90 minute film out of a television show, but "Recess" gives it a valiant attempt. The film will be too long for children under the age of six. Also, parents beware of the "G" rating of this film. There are scenes such as hiding in their school at night, or villains breaking into a military facility and shooting an energy beam at guards to make them unconscious.

The actor�s voices blend well with their characters, but as with the animated television series, the actual animation is flat.
